Saves the money on buying a BD burner and discs. Discs are always prone to dust and scratches. Apart from that there are no other advantages.

It's not like backups stored on hdd will have any faster loading times or anything like that. They should be listed there and you should be able to right-click and uninstall them.

The reason that a Blu — ray player or drive can read CDs and DVDs is the inclusion of a focusable red laser for that purpose. However, to read Blu — rays , there is a separate Blu — laser for that purpose.

Blu-ray burners are a different piece of equipment. You can , however, burn DVDs on a Blu-ray burner. Most drives also allow you to write data to a disc , so you can create your own music CDs, video DVDs or even create of back-up copy of your important data files.
