July 30, Prior to reading this article my thought was that M-Commerce is a long way off and questioned if there is really a need for mobile commerce. However two things came to mind; one is that when I was in the store last week to purchase a new 60 inch TV, the salesperson informed me that the same model from last year is available but two hundred dollars cheaper.
One of the new startup was a company called Buzztala , who launched a program where you can use social media to attach a video for customers to contribute product reviews. Boy could I have used this application last week. There were also two other developments that are interesting. One is Snap to Buy, which is a Mobile Image Recognition MIR application that will allow you to take a picture of shoes, handbags or any item and the phone will recognize the image and show the retailers that sell the item.
The other is a beauty supply retailer that made all products scan able, which then can show reviews, ratings and prices. I have a new found interest in M-Commerce now because last week I was in a big hurry; I went to multiple stores to see if I could get a better price on the TV.
Also anything to help get the best price is a plus to be able to stretch our dollars. Dishman, Lydia. Forbes Magazine, 27 June Monday, July 29, Portfolio Assignment 8: Internet Security. By Don Howard. July 29, Here is another example of the internet creating jobs and money but for the good of all internet users…or maybe not. Large companies like Microsoft, Apple, Facebook and others are paying premium dollars to hackers who find vulnerabilities in software code.
It may sound crazy but outside of demand for finding and fixing bugs, the United States Government is a huge customer of such practices. The business is getting so popular that brokers now solicit people who have identified flaws, connecting the identifier to buyers for a fee.
I have mixed feelings about this practice because on the one hand hackers are providing a needed service to all software companies and governments. However, if used for malicious intent, like harming, stealing or impacting the lives of millions of people negatively I think it can be unethical. The problem becomes huge when a citizen of one country exposes flaws to other countries, like in the Eric Snowden case.
Snowden took his knowledge of the United States spying operations to other countries and potentially shared it with some of our adversaries. I think what Mr. So with all this in mind, the ambitious PR professional in me says, "Grow! Favoring the small-business owner side, I recently sat down with the BOCA team and we talked about growth and our brand.
Our discussion yielded a unanimous decision: It is time to share BOCA's amazing culture and build upon our great work. I love our current North Beach location. We are located on Francisco Street between Powell and Mason. Our space is an old, ground-level art gallery with beautiful French doors that open up to the sidewalk and afford a ton of natural light.
But growth translates to a need for more physical space. So we began to look at spaces around San Francisco. So instead, we decided on the "Google campus" approach and signed a lease for two more spaces an old laundromat and a former hair salon right around the corner from our current location — literally within feet.
We are excited to take these two obscure spaces and turn them into beautiful creative galleries. You may recall that an early Facebook posting of ours referred to our art gallery spot as a "creative think tank" rather than an office. That's more reflective of BOCA, don't you think? Now, BOCA is ready to turn up the dial for its next phase of growth. We plan to promote our brand for the first time ever, and put heart and soul into an awards program that will highlight all the great work we do for our clients.
The small-business owner part of me is still understandably anxious, but the PR professional is, as always, fearless.
Wish us luck! When BOCA started - we were a virtual agency. Today, we have an office in San Francisco - that is almost at capacity - Austin, Texas - that we are growing - aspirations for an office in L. Until the time comes that I want to move out of our adorable SF space or truly expand into LA or NYC - we are hiring and we are hiring regardless of location.
We love super smart, super motivated, super fabulous people that know how to service clients and get results. So - what is the point of this post - again, we are hiring!
