Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The HP Recovery Manager opens. Click Advanced options , System recovery , and then click Next. The PC will restart and reopen the recovery manager. Alternately, if Advanced options is disabled, click Next , and then System Recovery. The PC will restart. When prompted, select the Back up your files first recommended option, and then click Next.
Follow the on-screen instructions. Once you click Next , the restore process cannot be stopped. If you are satisfied that you want to begin the recover process, click Next. By default the Recovery Manager will be set to run a System Recovery from the inserted recovery disc. Click Next. Read and respond to the screens as they appear. If a screen prompts for a disc, insert the next disc.
In some cases, you may have to repeatedly insert the same disc several times before the screen allows you to continue.
Reinstall any software applications that were after purchasing the computer, and any files that were backed up. Backing up files during recovery During the recovery process, you have the opportunity to back up your files to a disc or other removable drive. Once you have started one of the previous recovery methods and have come to an option to backup your files you can use the following steps to complete the backup and recovery process:.
Start one of the recovery methods described in the other sections of this document and continue reading and responding to the screens until you come to the question "Do you want to back up your data before recovery begins? Select Back up your files , and click Next. Figure : Recovery Manager: Back up your files first selection. Select the types of files that you would like to save. De-select the file types that you know you do not want. Click Next when done.

You can also try de-selecting the file types to reduce the amount of files that are copied. Other reasons for failed backups might be caused by file corruption. In some cases, it is not be possible to save files using this backup method. When Recovery Manager is finished backing up files, you can remove the backup disc or storage device and continue with the recovery process by clicking Next.
