Windows 7 is dead for any support and so should any software be which is supposed to work on windows 7. When windows 7 support ends so will any software which runs on it and bugs will only be fixed for windows 10 versions. As far as whether they will install on windows 7 is concerned then if they do, they do, if they don't you have to move on.
It is quite likely they will install unless interfaces change for windows 10 and can't be back-dated. Thanks for the heads up through for those of us still using windows 7, I am not one of them though.

I always said they have to pry my Windows 7 computers out of my cold dead hands before I'd switch to Windows At first I completely hated it. And then after build , Win 10 actually started working! Now I've moved on with life and accept Win 10 as it is. This indicates to me that the denied install is just by administrative reasons and limited to a block in the installer.
Apparently Nikon do not want to do any testing on Win7 after it now has become unsupported which is reasonable , and thereby puts a block in the installer not reasonable. I think the proper action had been to put a warning in the installer informing that it has not been tested under Win7 and that some things potentially might not work, and then give the user an option to proceed with the install anyway.
Microsoft has already ended support for Windows 7. It's the normal progression of software. Windows 10 works fine. I understand why some people in Japan who are computer illiterate would make this decision. I, uh.. This is a reasonable business decision, regardless of how computer literate "some people in Japan" are.
The truth is that the MORE computer savvy they are, the more likely they will conclude that they can no longer support their software on a non-supported OS. The development managers likely know that any test scenarios they have for new features or fixed functionality will no longer include "test that module on Win 7".
That matrix entry is now no longer valid. If they're no longer coding and testing for it, they should no longer support users on that OS. That's what they're telling us. That's irrelevant. All my software on Windows 7, which is the OS I use for work, all still works perfectly. As does Capture NX-D. I have a dual hard drive setup with a Windows 10 hard drive on the same computer as my Windows 7 hard drive that I installed when I signed up for the Adobe Photography CC subscription.
Every time I open it, if it actually even opens, it immediately shuts down. I'm sure he meant it. If you were a software developer, why would you continue to fix bugs for users on an operating system that you know Microsoft has stopped fixing bugs for. That your Capture install on Win7 works now doesn't disprove that -- it only means that your version on Win7 still works.
But when it stop working on Win7, you can not expect the software manufacturer to help you out. If some do, that's their choice, but most like Nikon won't, naturally. I wouldn't. Capture works fine on all of my Win10 machines. It should come as no surprise to your workplace that Win7 support has ended. If they continue to run their business with employees on unsupported operating systems, it could be a fatal mistake. I hope they have a roadmap on upgrades meaning yesterday, not tomorrow when computers stop working.
Turned on my rarely used Notebook - love and behold it runs on Windows Vista - I had to search low and high for the password to access the computer - everything runs fine even my latest copy of Norton Anti virus works.
I don't blame then for dropping Win 7 support, its a dead horse. Besides, I just fixed this on one of my Win 7 computer
